Room in DA20 vs DA40 & DA42
Hello everybody,
I will soon begin professional pilot training. In this context, it is possible that I my fly on the following aircraft:
- DA20
- DA40
- DA42
My problem is that I am very tall (200 cm). So I feared I couldn't fit in any of these aircraft.
Luckily enough, I had the opportunity to seat in a DA20 to test if I fit in it. My legs are just fine (I would even say that I felt better in the DA20 than in a C152 (I did my PPL flight training on the C152)). Well I just stayed in the aircraft a few minutes but the legs seemed fine !
About my head, I was able to close the canopy and even though it was really close to my head, it didn't hit. So far so good ! With an headset on my head I am sure I would touch the canopy it but I can find a workaround like buying a Clarity Aloft headset. It should be fine for the DA20.
Now my question is:
As I fit in a DA20, can I expect to fit in the 4-seater DA40 / in the Twin DA42 ?
I've seen different opinions over the Internet about this one. Has someone flown both the DA20 and the DA40 or the DA20 and the DA42 ? (I am especially interested if you are tall !) Which one has more room for the pilot ? (Head clearance / legs).
I look forward to reading your answers !
Thank you very much in advance !
