Lightning strikes on LHR planes

Hi all

I saw the amazing thunder and lightning over west London at about 8 last night. Odd, as the air hadn't felt muggy beforehand. But I hadn't realised planes had been hit by the lightning!

Interesting quote in the article from Cardiff University/Airbus that every commercial aircraft gets hit, on average, about once a year, so I suppose it's not surprising that a proportion occur over London.

The Icelandair was about an hour late departing for Keflavik, presumably as a result of the additional checks.
