Spectators Balcony (Spotters Corner) If you're not a professional pilot but want to discuss issues about the job, this is the best place to loiter. You won't be moved on by 'security' and there'll be plenty of experts to answer any questions.

Angry 5J678 18th May Manila to Shanghai

I was a passenger on the above Cebu pacific flight.

On a rather rapid taxi out to depart, the pilot had to swing to perform a 180 deg turn at the end of the runway.

I t felt quick and was very a rough turn. next a quick stop and then a pause before an announcement that he had ended up in "a soft spot"

Then a wait for a tug and engineer, the inevitable return to gate.

A frame change was required. My question is why was he allowed to continue my flight? Surely by his incompetence he should have been stopped from continuing my flight which only got worse as we had to diver into Hong Kong and landed in Shanghai 16 hours late.

I accept the diversion due to weather was out of his control, however if he had not joy ridden this aircraft off the runway there would have been no initial delay.
