BMI Freetown?

Having a discussion with one of my old colleagues who remembers Bmi operating 320s into Freetown, I seem to remember it as well, but does anyone else?

Not sure an A320 was ever used on this route but A321 (and latterly A330) for sure. I went down there a few times myself in a 321. It was planned for a fuel stop in Malaga both ways as even the extra fuel tank in the 321s meant that London-Freetown non-stop was not possible. Freetown-London however was a different matter as the winds sometimes allowed it to be done non-stop but only just... It was never planned that way but by using in flight re-planning rules it could be done legally. I managed the return flight non-stop twice.

I seem to remember Astraeus flying 737's on that route for a while, perhaps the -700 variant. They seemed to serve quite a few niche routes along the way.

A321 also went via a Marrakech tech stop occasionally. Just shuddered thinking about the Lungi Airport Hotel😧

BMI FNA

In earlier days ( 1978 !! ) as a relief guy in BCAL spent 3 months in SL.
Happy times at Lungi with the nightstopping One-eleven crews at the
Lungi Hilton.Made a change from turning round the 707.
Fortunately never had to help out at the next stop ( ROB ).
