Well, you understand that I heard of this from my wife who was at California Country Park - around lunchtime, her indoors is pretty sharp & we saw the Reds during Farnborough and the big "A380" on the tail in blue letters gave that one away so I am confident of the
Report, apparently witnessed by many other people there who enjoyed the free show!

I live very close to California Country Park and at lunchtime I was a stone's throw from the place! Are you sure it isn't a wind up? I'm amazed that all those aircraft would be so close as to not hear nor see them!

Definitely not a wind up from my side, Mrs M is adamant!
(Although I am starting to be suspicious of her new glasses now) - again, thanks for replying - there goes what little credibility I had :-(

I did see an Emirates 380 (it had Emirates written underneath) near Woking (not Wokingham) going downwind for 09R about lunchtime; maybe the OP saw the reds too and thought they were linked as the 380 would have turned base leg in the vicinity of Wokingham.

It's still interesting. The track from Whitchurch to Reading passes about 6 miles west of California Country Park so they could well have been seen. I favour the suggestion that the A380 was Emirates.

Hi all, well - Mrs M has passed repeated interrogation on this topic and is standing by her story, at least your information confirms that something may have been observed & she has not gone doo-lally on me - my attempts to enthuse her about aviation have clearly failed!
Thanks again to the good people of Pprune -case closed from me!

HD and Dave Reid

I concur, I was at Blackbushe yesterday at this time and the EK29 flew a very long downwind before being turned back for the LHR easterlies. Because it is so big I was able to follow it disappearing way way off to the west before being sequenced in by one of your successors no doubt HD.

there was a lot of very variable cloud around that could easily have played a few tricks trying to ID the actual tail logos
