cf.: 37.5 degree angle of bank, one engine out, gear down and at 500 feet
Having read the above thread and the corresponding Dutch safety board report, would you professionals pls explain to SLF like me:
i. Are there no ICAO or other international agency prescribed simulator training programmes including all possible sorts of multiple system failures, which should be vigorously executed by each and every airline company worldwide in the same way? If no, who decides what is trained in the sim, and how often? The TREs? The book of the company they work for? Why are trainees given clues of what failures will be instituted during their session? This does not happen in real life!
ii. Wouldnīt it be safety-enhancing to increase the amount of time in the simulator for recurrence training? If no, why not? Who determines how often pilots are trained in the sim? Should this event cause them to rethink about times and / or costs of sim training? (Sims donīt need to be full-flight to train certain aspects of CRM, and training in fixed base sims could be more affordable!).
