Cocaine smuggling Boeing ?

AFP News report

Wonder if it could be the 727 which disappeared from Africa a few years ago (obviously with some extra tanks) ?

Not the 1st Boeing to do it as there was the infamous 707 at Southend 1 month after 9/11.

Could be that rogue 727. Depending on load weights , would it make the trip from South America to Africa in one hit or would it need refuel , say , at Cabo verde ?

Bearing in mind its "mission"....I would think stopping en-route would be last resort. Also...does ATC have it tracked trans-atlantic if it IS...the rogue 727 ? Interesting story for sure...

If I recall correctly, that 727 was outfitted as a tanker. So perhaps they're able to take advantage of that and avoid any fuel stops.

In any case, it's all pure speculation because we don't even know if it's the same plane....

You would have thought they would have "sniffed" it out by now.

Sure that the readers of this forum would appreciate pictures and the ID of the 727 involved. Anybody able to fill the gaps here...?

I thought that missing 727 was the one use in the attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea and was impounded in Zimbabwe? I could be wrong though.

While Mali authorities are investigating, so is Interpol. "The enquiry should progress very quickly," said the officer.
The cocaine plane abandoned far off in the Sahara desert could soon reveal its secrets.

Can't wait for the answers! What other 'prohibited' goods do you think the plane could have been carrying?
