Spectators Balcony (Spotters Corner)If you're not a professional pilot but want to discuss issues about the job, this is the best place to loiter. You won't be moved on by 'security' and there'll be plenty of experts to answer any questions.
This may not be the forum for this but here goes anyway. Does anyone know of any good sites to get flighst to Orlando at a reasonable cost? Any other pointers about sites for hotels, car hire or whatever would be greatly appreciated!
My advice is to wait until October. That is, unless you like unbearably hot and humid weather (90+F is not fun when the humidity is high), and are a fan of violent afternoon thunderstorms (with steambath conditions to follow). Of course, with the recent drought, the storms have lately ceased to be a daily event.
I know this doesn't answer your question (there is some excellent advice above) - but if you can manage it I would suggest that you visit some time October through April. Let me put it this way - May through September is when you'll find many of us who live here heading for our holidays in cooler climates!

The web site: www.expedia.co.uk is good for scheduled flights and also for hotels. It also does car hire but since I do not drive I have not tried it out. On the front page of the hotels listing availability and prices, the prices quoted are exclusive of tax but ther if you click on book it, it shows you the total price including tax before you have to book it.
When booking car hire, there is the basic rate plus a whole lot of taxes which add a considerable amount to your car hire price. Some car hire websites, ( alamo.com show the full price) whereas others ( Avis for example do not include the various taxes and airport fees )
Hope you have a great time. I'm off there myself in mid June. PS Sorry but I don't know how to set up a link to the actual web page.
Good advice on car hire from The_Banking_Scot . . . you can have the convenience of "at airport" pick up and drop off, but you will be paying for it. As I recall, the MCO airport access fee is pretty hefty. Not sure about SFB (perhaps SFly can help you there) - they are both under the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, but it would seem ridiculous to have the same fee for MCO, SFB (and ORL, for that matter)!
It is a hassle to use shuttle busses to off airport car hire locations, but it could save you quite a bit.
Also, check how your own insurance covers (or does not cover) collision damage and personal liability on the hire car. (Your local AA may be of some help, if you are a member.) The per day charges from the car hire companies for this cover are quite high.
The Florida hire car surcharge is something you will have to pay . . . currently $2 or $3 a day, I believe. And you will be paying at least 6% sales tax on the rental.
Perhaps the best advice is to read all the small print/additional information available on the internet, and if they've got a freephone number, call and enquire as to how much you will really be paying per day.
Just to set it straight, Orlando Sanford is nothing to do with GOAA, so things are separate there. If you are getting a package with driving included, then all the information should be provided by the company (ie Airtours, First Choice etc).
Just a note, SFly

SFly - Oops. I'll blame it on lack of coffee first thing in the morning.
Somehow I couldn't remember that a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away the GOAA audit consisted of OIA (MCO) and OEA (ORL). Gee, you'd think that I should be able to count (on my fingers, if necessary) and somehow come to the conclusion that two airports are less than three airports!
