Post NEW SERVER UPGRADE

Danny has just announced a new server upgrade.. .. .
quote:
I have just signed an agreement to upgrade the current server (Dual PIII 550MHz, 512Mb RAM, dual 9Gb SCSI RAID) to a Dual PIII 800MHz, 1Gb RAM, dual 18Gb SCSI RAID (10,000rpm). Change over should occur around beginning April. It will probably mean PPRuNe being off-air for a day or two but the new higher powered server should put a stop to the recent server crashes we have been experiencing at peak times.

Good news or what?

Numbers are allocated sequentially and NOT re-allocated when users 'drop-out' ie with 'the guvnor's' 4000 names gone.................... .. .In other words, the total registered membership is around 46000.

It seems there are many attempted registrations which are given serial numbers, but then do not actually become registered members.. .This is what member No 2 told me a long time ago - . .PPRuNe Towers . .. .Dep Chief PPRuNe Pilot. .(IC Lavs & Dunnies) . .. .Member # 2 . .. . posted 10 July 2001 11:05 . .--------------------------------------------------------------------------------. .expressman,. .Several times a week unemployed wannabees kept in a disgusting conditions here at the Towers (a 737 flight deck mockup) are forced to cull dead or non funtioning registrations. The most common reason for this is faulty e-mail addresses whether mistyped or simply no longer/never active.. .. .All part of the giddy fun that is administering this site.. .. .Incidently 36,000 is the average number of individual visitors to the site per day.. .. .--------------------. .Regards from the Towers. .ppt@pprune.org. .. .--------------------------------------------------------------------------------. .From: UK | Registered: Jan 1997 | IP: Logged

I'm given to understand that with the upgrade comes a redesign.. .May I be the first to complain that I don't like it.
