Dover Beach Hotel is good and quite cheap !
On the south coast which is definately the best side of Barbados as well.
I'm about to take my family there for the third time in 2 years and we all love it...

I got the details from BA news originally but you can call a lady called Georgina on 01306 621325 for more info as she deals with bookings from the UK side.

Hope this helps.

Dear Pin Head,

Check this site out, it's very good. http://www.barbados.org/stay.htm

For the past two years I've e-mailed about 30 odd hotels each time asking them for airline rates. It has worked well with them doing the running and you making the choices. I've saved about 20% over the prices charged by companies like Lawson International. Another advantage is that you deal with the hotel direct saving any delays in dealing with a middleman. Being a luddite I always back up a booking with a phone call.

Some of the good ones are: The Sandy Beach Hotel,The Almond Beach (Village or Club), The Rockley Beach Resort (Good if you are into golf - I wasn't!), The Casuarina Beach Club, The Dover Beach, the Rainbow Reef and more.

Of those the best I've stayed in was the Sandy Beach Hotel which was self catering (useful and cheaper with my 4 kids) but had the best beach of the lot.

Almond Beach was good but the beach itself was not brilliant.

The Casuarina was good but not great value for money.

The Dover Beach was O.K. as was the Rainbow Reef..

Hope this is of help to you.

Regards
Exeng

Don't know if you have a family or not, but if you don't and are thinking of going to the Almond Beach Club, it is very, very quiet: almost dead sometimes. A lot more goes on at the village, and there is a better beach a little walk towards the marina, but watersports is very crowded. Not too cheap, but reasonable with airline rates. Janet Smith tours is a good operator for this one.

Mate of mine loved Rockley, but looked more like couples orientated than family.

Suggest that you try the DIVI winds for $40 per night as this is where a certain UK charter ariline is putting it's crew, and they are not very happy at all!!

Wink

Stayed at the Almond Beach Club ( no kids allowed) last year and loved it. Real get away from it all, peacfull and quiet break. Only the sound of ice clinking in glasses and the pool waterfall disturbed the rustling of pages being turned in books. Apart of course from the gobby VS hostie telling the world and its dog what a certain ex RAF 747 captain had been up to on his last visit !!!

Cool

If anyone out there gets rostered up front on BA2155 LGW to BGI at 1045 on 28-Feb, Mrs P & yours truly will be tucked away somewhere in Economy & we would like to thank you in advance for getting us there safely!

Cheers
P.
