Barcelona Flight School

Hello my name is Fabian Nilsson. My dream is to become a pilot so I now decided that now is the time. I got in contact with a flight school in Spain called Barcelona Flight school, since much money is invested for my flight training I wonder if someone here knows if this is a serious and good school to start my training at?

They were previously Top Fly... (they went bankrupt... so be careful with them...)

I suggest you to look for others options.

Here in spain you have several flight schools.

And look for an school based in an international airport, it is gonna be much better for your training.

Barcelona Flight School belongs to Aeroclub de Sabadell which is the 2nd biggest airclub in Europe with 30 planes ( twin, singles, aerobatics ,sailplanes) and it is a good and reliable school. The other school they talk about is EAS (European aviation school) it is said that has some relationship with the old Top Fly school ( managers? workers?) the only thing I know is that they fly Tecnam (single and twin). You have more schools in Barcelona like dreamflyers and aerolink. Consider that Barcelona is more expensive than other cities in Spain ( quite more expensive ) so try to calculate not only the price of the school but also the living expenses.

Good luck !

Hey,I am a current student with BFS and I CERTAINLY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT . It's INEFFICIENCY & BAD MANAGEMENT & TERRIBLE ATTITUDE is the worst I've ever seen.It has been so demoralizing.I cannot believe such unprofessionalism exist in a flight school. We are paying a lot of money for this and people with budget constrains will be in deep trouble when you get a lot of delayed time in flying hours and lack of proper flight scheduling.Worst place to be.I believe the management has traded quality for quantity, they have been too greedy in making money from the herds of new student enrolment when they know the fact that they do not have the man power in terms of instructors to keep up with the demand. Please go elsewhere for your training.Do not regret.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a flight school to do my PPL around Barcelona. No major ambition to go commerical, more looking for a club where I can take lessons on the weekend and get the license over the next year or so. This is why I was looking at the Aeroclub. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

I'd STRONGLY disagree with this last sentence. Unless you are looking for an MPL course or a sponsored-cadet scheme, the busier the airport the longer you are going to be sitting on the ground with engine(s) running waiting for commercial flights get out the way. Therefore the ratio between hours FLOWN and hours PAID could be (on average) very small and then you need to count in deared airport taxes, etc.

Sabadell as an airfield is OK, I don't know much about any specific resident ATO but the place looks busy. Several colleagues working as p/t FIs over there.

Suerte

Take a look at Aeroclub de Catalunya. I have been myself to complete my PPL and was really really impressed. Rather than just feel like 'another student' you really are treated properly. The people could not do enough to help me and I really felt special! My instructor hiding round the corner ready to spray champagne all over me after my 1st solo was a particular highlight. It may not have the flashy website of the larger schools but this shouldnt put anyone off what so ever.

Awesome! The website did indeed put me off a bit, but love the feedback! Will definitely give it a try.
