Malindo Airine

Did anyone attend the walk in interview for Malindo Airline?

aircupidon 2nd Nov 2012 11:57

OverWhelming response

2000 people showed up::sad:.....maily pilots as they are nearly 1100+ unemployed in malaysia...selection will be tough even for the rated pilots

Dual_Input 3rd Nov 2012 02:01

Seems like alot of pilots went for it , however i dont see any news about packages for FOs or Captains or crew for that matter. Seriously doubting they will absorb that many crew or is it just another voting scam by the goverment?:ok:

Captain Stravaigin 3rd Nov 2012 15:21

Well coincidentally there was a story in the press a few days previously about how many trained Pilots were out of work. Front page at that.;)

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH 4th Nov 2012 07:19

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I totally disagree with the statement many qualified Malaysian pilots unemployed!

A qualified pilot in my humble opinion is one with at least 1500 hours on jets in excess of 50,000kg. Therefore a pilot directly out of flying school is a long way from being qualified!

Secondly, with all these unemployed second officers running around looking for a job. I am willing to bet we will see them working for free and paying to fly. It is precisely at this moment when there is a large surplus of bright eyed young freshies out of school chasing their dreams, that the employers take full advantage of their situation and squeeze them with the worst possible terms and conditions. I have seen this happen all over the world with saddening repetition.

I wonder what will happen here??

Wooblah. :(

Dual_Input 4th Nov 2012 10:52

I agree with you . It was stated in the news , that malindo will absorb them and the rating will be financed by bank loans. So thats Rm250k for your initial training + god knows how much malindo will charge for a rating. For those without jobs , they practically start in debt before landing their dream job

Just as well it's your own humble opinion as I know many ATR72 and Fokker 50 captains with more 10,000 hours who would frown at the suggestion that they're not 'qualified pilots". :E

But I agree with you that a pilot fresh from flying school who has just received their CPL/IRs with nothing more than the 250 hours they flew on piston engine aircraft can't be considered as qualified air transport category pilots. Infact, some airlines would not even consider you as qualified until you have passed your line check on a passenger transport category aircraft.

This is already happening Capt Wooblah. About 90% of Malaysian pilots flying in Indonesia for Sriwijaya Air, Lion Air and Wings Air and others paid for the privilege to do so. :yuk: I heard they paid something like USD $30,000 for a 737 type rating, line training and a job.

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH 10th Nov 2012 16:43

My Dear Monkey,

I have thousands of hours on medium to heavy turboprops and have the upmost respect with those that have tens of thousands of hours on these types. But let's face it. When it comes to employment on jet aircraft the employers want jet time! And when it comes to heavy jets it is heavy jet time. So with all the experience and tens of thousands of hours on the F-50 or ATR that a QUALIFIED PILOT on these types may have. They will not have the possibility of direct entry captain position on a heavy jet. But may have a possibility on a light to medium jet. or have I missed something here since my old age retirement.

Have a screeching time with the troop,

Wooblah. :ok:

jetjockey696 10th Nov 2012 17:15

I agree with Uncle Wooblah.... the lowest minimum for some company to upgrade a First Officer to Capt is 4/5000hrs Total time with min 1000 JET HOURS. but a Capt on turbro prop will probably promoted to Capt on jet after a few hundred hours.. on the right seat. depending on performance..

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH 24th Nov 2012 12:53

Heard on the grapevine that Malindo has run into some political trouble!!

fareez36 26th Nov 2012 07:37

mind sharing capt?

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH 28th Nov 2012 04:59

Well rumour has it that some UMNO politician's children are involved in the shareholding through air rod. And that there is a squabble about money between the Indon and Malaysian shareholders. :suspect:

Wooblah.

320busdriver 28th Nov 2012 07:57

WOW:ugh: like that`s a surprise they are already running the country into the ground, just another day in the office for those morons :*. Their kids are supplying the ATC equipment for KLIA2 even though the experts have suggested against doing so.

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH 28th Nov 2012 10:40

A320, you're right on the money! Greed and more greed!!:*

jetjockey696 28th Nov 2012 17:21

Nothing new about the politics here.. It malaysia.. any company that will shows any potential in malaysia. the present government wants a hand in. they want the pound of flesh. As they say "1malaysia"..http://www.malaysia-chronicle.com/me...75d6915c_S.jpg (ethnic malay). :ok: hahaha..

There is only 2 offical airlines in malaysia.. both are have government officials as staff. with there spouses, aunties, uncles, mistresses etc. all tied in as supervisors, managers of managers et...so if you dont play by there rules.. Malindo or other companies would not have a gone off the ground. What happens today and in the future.. is due to the puppet masters...

Malindo is advertising that they will hire hundreds of unemployed pilots.. this might true hire.. in some way..but its all hot air. Since the prime minister is up for elections soon...after the elections a free for all recruitment.. expats, Malaysians (mixed race) can join Malindo, MAS and Air Asia. Najib: 5 reasons why you must vote Umno-BN

I also heard that MAS are short of pilots again... after removing all expats. :ugh: same situation a few years ago.. short of pilots after they decide to remove all expats, because it a national airline... so it must be only malaysians no expats...mentality of some..

NotHere 29th Nov 2012 07:13

[QUOTE]because it a national airline... so it must be only malaysians no expats...mentality of some../QUOTE]

This is what QF,Air New Zealand, American Airlines, Lufthansa etc thought too.....;)

syukri 29th Nov 2012 10:30

Haha so true! I believe local airlines should improve locals first and its a great idea.. Except for those expats of course :}

Virtual Reality 29th Nov 2012 14:11

You sounded very sore jockey, have you been rejected by local airlines and exiled in Indon for good ?? ....:}

VR

jetjockey696 29th Nov 2012 15:44

VR... I did my sentence in Malaysia a few years ago with your beloved TF.. YES..Sadly I am very sore what they did to me:{.. I still cant sit down..without a pillow:mad: and now I walk like John Wayne... :p
