DGCA- ATPL July Attempt.
 

Those who intend to take the DGCA ATPL test this july, lets share some information here on this thread.

Firstly,

I checked up the DGCA website, but could not find out when can we send in our applications for the written test.

I have heard of DGCA "rejecting" the applications which are sent in too early.
So please advice if you have already sent in yours, if not when do you intend to send it.

Many of you would like to know what books to use for the test.

I have found out that, I.C.Joshi is really good for met.
And for the Radio Aids(that includes instruments) you can refer to GSP & Oxford.

I am not sitting the Nav test this time, but Surinder Sir's notes and Keith Williams is suggested by many.

I'm awaiting for April attempt CPL results to be declared, then there would be a date as to when's the last date for submission for Application for July Attempt.

I'm referring for Oxford ATPL Radio Aids and Instrumentation along with Surinder Sir's CPL notes. I.C. Joshi should suffice meteorology and CPL met notes too.

Since you guys are giving the ATPL exams, I find it appropriate to post this question over here....

Can anyone please tell me that if I am flying in an international airline and want to appear in the Indian DGCA ATPL exam, then shall I have to submit a certificate for proving that I have attended classes for the ATPL exam preparation???

And also if DGCA would consider such a letter from any non-Indian airline??

I have gone through the CAR's but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I am to join an airline in the Gulf. But since I would be returning back after 4 years (according to the contract), I was wondering if I could come in between and give the DGCA ATPL exam as ultimately I will have to join an Indian airline and it shall be good for me if I hold an Indian ATPL as well.

For this I wanted to know if the DGCA would accept the letter from my non-Indian airline or not? So if u could help me out with this then i would be thankful.

SERIES’B’ PART I 12TH NOVEMBER, 2010

7. Requirements for appearing in various Flight Crew License Examinations:
An applicant who is desirous of appearing in Flight Crew License Examinations for issue of a category of license should meet the following requirements.

7.4 ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License):
The applicant should have Indian Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with multi-engine endorsement or a minimum of 500 hours of flying experience of which at least 200 hours should be as Pilot-in-Command in case of Defence Personnel.

7.5 Conversion of Pilots License issued by Foreign Authorities
The applicant should have:
(a) Computer Number issued by CEO, DGCA.
(b) Passed 10+2 standard examination with Physics and Mathematics subjects from a recognized Board/ University or its equivalent examination.
(c) Pilot License issued by ICAO Contracting State for the respective category for which application is made.

I think you haven't got my question yet.....

I am saying that if I start working in a non-Indian airline and don't get a foreign ATPL (i.e. from that country), and want to appear in the DGCA ATPL normal examinations (of course after I meet the hours requirements), then the certificate which says that I have attended the ground classes for the ATPL, will the DGCA accept such a certificate from that non-Indian airline or not??

By normal, you mean all 3 papers correct?

Why would you need a certificate stating you attended ground classes? there is no such requirement anymore. All you need is DGCA cpl + mutli endorsement.

Yes I mean all 3 papers....just like any other guy who is an Indian national and working in an Indian airline..

Ok....so are you sure about this rule....i'm asking this because I have gone through the previous posts of this thread and everywhere I have seen this requirement of "CERTIFICATE" from the airline being required or else the application is rejected...

you dont need any certificate now....:ok:

Its was a previous requirement to show your ATPL ground class certificate, along with the proof of professional flying.

Now its been scrapped.

All you to sit for the test is, a CPL + MECIR + motivation :ok:

So this means that anyone who is not flying with an airline can also give the ATPL exam??...I mean is the concept of frozen ATPL accepted now?? I sthere no such requirement for any number of flying hours (becoz the rule says that either CPL+Multi "OR" 500 hrs PIC)??

And one another querry I have--- is it a rule from the Indian DGCA that only 1 kind of foreign license can be converted to an Indian one?

I mean if I have got a foreign CPL converted into an Indian CPL, then I cannot get any other kind of foreign license (namely ATPL) converted to Indian??
