CAAC new rule for expats?

Anyone hear about a new rule for expats saying you need 5000 air carrier hours and 1000 TPIC to fly there? Is that real?

nope

Some airlines have minimums like that because they have many applicants lately.

New rule is

5000hrs total part 121 time
1000hrs part 121 PIC
3 years experience part 121.

The market just shut down to a large majority of expats. This rule just passed so expect it to be awhile till they drop it to lower standards.

What's TPIC time?
I would of thought a vast majority of the pilots (Captains) hired by Chinese carriers would far exceed these minimums???

I would have thought the same LH777.

On the bright side, there will therefore be a smaller pool of potential pilots, so supply and demand will drive up contracts? Chinese carriers competing against each other for a small pool of eligible expats.

Having been there for a couple of years, if you don't have at least this type of experience, you have no business being there. It's worse than flying single pilot - at least when you're single pilot you don't have a numpty sitting next to you actively making your job exponentially more difficult.

The 500 pic on part 121 has always been non negotiable.

Turns out it would only affect the airlines within the Southwest CAAC district, and its 5000 Total Time, not 5000 121 time.

Are the new standards impacting the CAAC sim check? and if yes how?

Also just been told that any Chinese airlines younger than 5 years old are not allowed to employ expat Captains?
Anyone got info?
I actually dont care if these guys start parking planes because they cannot crew them....they are rediculous with their requirements, red tape and 18th century rulings...

There is obviously something up as all the jobs sites have gone quiet, my guess a temporary thing which probably won't last more than a few months.

We must be looking at different job sites.

Which are ALL the ones that have gone quiet?

The ones I look at are still advertising for China jobs, in all areas, various types.
