Surprising to hear all of that ,
Place seems far cleaner and civilized compared to India
Locals are polite
Can't imagine more bureaucracy than Indias DGCA
Can't comment on UL though

I worked there between 2005-2013.
Here's a link to a report published in 2015 regarding the state of SriLankan Airlines (131 pages).

This report is just the tip of the iceberg.
No action has been taken against anyone named in this report.
All investigations have been de-railed. Not a single Rupee has been recovered.
A Culture of Impunity and Zero Accountability (but not for you!)
The new aircraft all appear to have been leased on 12 year leases at higher than normal market rates without a termination clause. That's a forward liability of several Billion USD.
There are still more aircraft coming.....
High lease rates make it impossible to make money and the forward liabilities make it impossible to sell the Airline.
The Chairman and CEO are Political Appointees and are not qualified to hold their respective positions.
The Country is out of money and the Airline is out of money - not going to end well imho.
Large numbers of Sri Lankans have left - that should tell you all you need to know.
Their stated policy is to go to 100% Sri Lankan Nationals at the Airline - suggest you leave them to it.

Question widebody
Hi everyone !
quick question in regards to a possible switch to widebody after you join as 320/1 PIC in srilankan: is it actually possible ?
Maybe based on your seniority in the company, anything ?
Cheers !
