Try and speak to some local pilots and find out who needs to be bribed and how much to pay them. Once you've done that the rest of the process should be easy.

hmmmmm... Metro man -cynical, but sadly likely accurate. I've not heard of an Indonesian National converting a CASA CPL to the Indonesian document before, but doubtless it's been done. Most of us here on CASA licences are on Validations, since the DGCA moratorium on issuing Indonesian licences (to foreign nationals) 3-4 years ago. Lalurizki -if you know anyone in the Indo Pilots Association, that may be a good place to ask. Definitely DGCA too.

You can do it at most flight schools if you're an Indonesian national. Foreigners aren't allowed to as they fly on validations. This flight school has done a number of 'conversions' (which they call 'endorsements') including those with CASA licenses. Infact they have a partnership with a New Zealand flight school and also have an instructor with a CASA license.

I hold an Indonesian licence not a validation, as I went and sat the exams. What does the rule about no more licences for foreigners mean for those all ready holding one?

Given that you hold an Indonesian licence, I'm assuming it was issued some years ago? Susi? If that's the case, you will almost certainly find that your Indo Licence is directly associated with the outfit you were flying for, here in Indonesia. Have a look at the last page of your document. If it was Susi you were working for, then you already have a minimum 2 year contractual moratorium on flying for any other Indonesian outfit.

If you've spent any time at all in Indonesia, you will already be aware of the tremendous inconsistency in the application of "rules" associated with aviation here -and of just what can be achieved with the application of an appropriate "inducement" to the right person.

Short answer is: there IS no Short Answer to your question. Each case seems to be unique. Have a go! I suspect you may find you'll go on a validation, as do we all of late. But then i did hear a whisper a while ago that they might be going to issue DGCA licences to foreigners again...

Another new Regulation

Saw this today. Translation by Google.

Infopenerbangan.com, Ministry of Transportation DGCA issued new rules aimed at foreign pilots working in Indonesia, dated September 23, 2016.

It says in the regulation, that validation of foreign pilots are given for 1 (one) year after the date of issuance and may be extended for a maximum of one (1) year.

The rule applies to all operators AOC holders 121, 135 and 141. PSC explicitly in the new rules, foreign pilots will work in Indonesia is only given time does not exceed 2 years tenure.

A senior pilot responded to this appeal as a concrete step towards overcoming the many pilot school graduates are idle. Of course this is cool for the 900 graduates of Indonesian pilots who have not worked, can be absorbed on various airlines. Unknown data from BPSDM (Human Resource Development Agency) Transportation, there were 545 foreign pilots who are still actively working in Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia is one of the airlines that hire foreign pilots. For information, there are a total of 60 foreign pilots who are still active in the company.

With this rule shows the Ministry of Transportation Directorate General of Civil Aviation pilots respond to local concerns that had been bothered going to their foreign pilots who took turns continuously into Indonesia.

Original posting in Indonesian.

(fd/hr)
