Citilink plane skidded in Padang Minangkabau Airport


Citilink aircraft with flight number QG970 route Jakarta-Padang, West Sumatra, skidded on landing at Minangkabau International Airport, Padang, at around 19:27 pm. President and CEO of PT Citilink Indonesia Indonesia Albert Burhan told CNN confirmed that the plane skidded off the runaway to the left side of the runway.

"The whole fuselage there on the grass after skidding. All passengers have been evacuated, one of them suffering from shock, "said Albert when dihubungai, Sunday night (2/8).

Albert said, none of the passengers or pilots and cabin crew were injured in the incident. The aircraft with registration number PK-GQG Airbus A320 was carrying 174 passengers, a child, and three babies.

"Skidding due to weather heavy rain. We're coordinating with the NTSC (National Transportation Safety Committee) to check how it could happen and condition of the aircraft, "said Albert.

The aircraft was commanded by Captain Berry P Sinaga and three crew. Currently, passengers and aircraft already in the terminal are safe. While the airframe middle evacuated back to the runway. (DRC)

So why the evac? No portable stairs available?

Indonesia has the best trained AES guys in the world, where else do they get so much hands on experience dealing with planes landing on the side of the runway, in the drink, etc?
