Dragonair vs Silkair vs Vietnam Arilines?

G'day folks,

Can any Aussies (or anyone) who work for either of these three companies send me a PM with details of what it's like to work for these airlines?

Hours required to get into, wages, lifestyle, promotion opportunity etc would be greatly appreciated!!!

Many thanks in advance.

Captain or F/O ?

Makes a big difference as Dragon don't employ DECs AFAIK, Silk only take their own cadets as F/Os but take DECs and Vietnam take both but if you join as an F/O upgrade is by no means certain.

Thanks for the reply Metro man,

It would be as an FO.

I have 6000hrs TT and 2000hrs PIC on an ATR but no jet time.

VNA would seem the most logical company to go for as they have ATR's and then career progression onto the A320/330.

I think there is a bond at VNA but not sure on the $$$$$$(price).

You won't get a start at any of these with no jet time. If you take a punt and buy yourself a 320 rating you may get a start by bashing on doors in Indonesia (Citilink) or the Phillipines or possibly Vietjet. It will be scary flying but you only need to survive 1000 hours and off you go.

Or go to Mauritius. ATR's then on to the Airbus.

Vietnam Airlines then on their ATRs, get the job and the licence and try to work across onto the A320 or bail to Vietjet after six months.

BTW ATR 42 or 72 as I don't think the Vietnamese consider them as the same type.

Angel Good luck

Apply and see who give you an interview/ job. These companies may or may not think you're as great as you think.

KA employ turboprop guys from Australia and a command course can start after one PC (6 months) at present.

I've heard Vietnam are a good company to work for and never much good about working for Singaporeans'. All from the horses' mouth.
