Air China Airbus fleet no longer taking applications from type rated or non type rated crew despite what an agency may tell you. Can't tell you about the cargo operation.

I think this sounds the same as China Eastern.

Apparently they have a load of 777's coming and were advertising for pilots - but nearly everyone who applied failed selection?

Don't know if it was perhaps a change of policy from the CAAC - who knows.

Sounds like it could be the same with Air China.

Has anyone with a colour vision deficiency had any success with employment with ACC or any other Chinese carrier? Don't want to waste my time and company time, if I would be rejected due to CVD.

With colour sight deficiency you have absolutely no chance of selection whatsoever.

I recommend to anybody who has no medical deficiency except correctable vision that you choose China as a career, the best jobs in the world are here with a great deal of variety in choice of contract type.

Not to doubt your statement, I have heard rumors to that affect. Do you know of anyone being turned down due to CVD?

Recent Interview Experience

Gents,

recently been to the Interview with Air China Cargo in Beijing. The whole thing is a hoax. From first day on all of us did not feel welcome. It gave me the impression, even though ACC is hiring Expats again, evaluating and grading personnel is highly questioning this recent Management decision by failing candidates, showing disrepect, creating an uncomfortable athmosphere and ignoring you. No Briefing and no preparation at all for Sim, most documents only in Mandarine, necessary MRI scan and other weird stuff during Medical, evaluating hotel bills for evening alcohol consumption, late meetings, etc.

On top of this, the before given information about Roster, Days Off, Accomodation, Training, etc. all of a sudden seemed to be incorrect. How funny.

If you are used to the fuzzy feeling western companies give you upon arrival at an Interview, forget this! You´re not much more than a number. Not nice.

Pass me a PM if you need more intel. It´s too much to write here.

So, perhaps think twice before opting for China Gents ;-)

I agree - recently interviewed for ACC

Felt as if nobody really knew we where coming, very unorganized and we all agreed nobody was really running the show.

One guy just walked after having a confrontation with ACC rep over there manner and attitude towards him, I think we all felt this way but nobody really spoke up apart from this chap whom clearly didn't take any BS....

It wasn't at all what I or others expected, in a word unprofessional.
