Chinese Contract Letter of Release

Anyone know how to get the official Letter of Release form a company after the contract expires? I was working for a company and now they don't want to provide my Letter of Release so I can't apply to any other companies in China. Has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to get the Letter of Release?

SDJ gave me the "release letter" but I still couldn't go else where because the CAAC wouldn't sign my license

Good luck hicks

This is one of the many serious things to consider when taking a job in China. Do your research before you do an interview with any Chinese company as once you do you are somewhat Locked In. After a contract expires you can ask for a letter of release and it should be forthcoming. Your contract should have had language requiring this release letter after contract termination along with a safety letter assuring no accidents or incidents and get the last 3 pages or your whole log books stamped before you completely separate. Once you leave town nothing will happen fast for you. If your previous employer refuses then use your new employer and if involved your recruitment agency. What most employers are after is the soft blue logbook which is your CAAC training records and Check Ride performance. My experience is it is best to not tell any Chinese employer where you are going. Just tell them you are taking a few months off from flying and considering your options but you desire all the required documents should you decide to fly again elsewhere. The new employer will have to get involved at some point to requ, est certain paperwork so heave them do the legwork if you cannot get what you need. You can always get a Chinese lawyer to write a nasty letter and threaten a breach of contract lawsuit. The Courts will not get involved but sometimes just the threat is enough. You can also have your attorney try and go through the Chinese Labor Bureau. Chinese employers treat an emploYee like a marriage and they don't like people moving around a lot as it looks bad upon their reputation. Again consider all these possibilities before taking a pilot job in China.

Wyoming or anyone,
does anyone have any knowledge of Air China Cargo's recent conditions for pilots. i.e. layover hotels, training bonds on type ratings, etc?

Shenzhen Airlines

I have been at SZA for quite a few years now. Here is my honest opinion. Flying in China is VERY stressful. ATC SUCKS. Inefficiency at its best.

The airline does not feel professional at all. The flight attendants get hired for looks nothing else. I wouldn't trust them to put out a damn cigarette let alone a fire.

SZA pays the lowest. However, the 737 guys have it easy. Normally 2 legs a day, 4 days on 2 off sometimes more. And if your here more than 3 years you get a block of 5 off which if you know how to plan it you can make 7 or even 10.

A320 guys DO NOT come here you will be MISERABLE. The schedule for the airbus is horrible. Totally diff than 737.

They guys will wake up at 4 am, fly from Zhengzhou to Shenzhen. Then goto the hotel (because in China unlike the USA you can split the duty time which it total BS) and then fly that night to Shenyang or Harbin.

We have 5 guys leaving for Qatar, some just quitting. The company has gone downhill since Air China took over.

As for the release letter, we have had guys leave for other companies. SZA normally issues the letter. The problem is the background check. You see, a bc in china is basically the new airline CALLING the old airline. Well if the person they speak to doesn't like you guess what....

What a headache! Why would anyone apply to a Chinese or ME carrier is beyond me? Too much bs and not enough teeth in the local laws to protect the expat contractor. I'd rather do something other than flying than put up with on of these nightmares. But then maybe I'm just getting older, no longer have the energy to play the games the contract world is full of.

I'm saying that having done contract flying work for carriers in India, the M.E. and Asia. At least in India I wasn't required to get a NOC (no objection certificate) as an expat. Just finished up my contract with a 90-day leave notice and went on my merry way. The airline even paid me every cent it owed.
