CP ATR Capts

For anyone considering this, here's a few things they won't tell you before you are hired:

1) You will be responsible for ALL of your own expenses (work permit, CAAP conversion, medical exams, etc)

2) You will only receive a "training allowance" while training, which is the equivalent of $500/US per month. You are not "released" to line flying until completion of all IOE and "Supervised Line Flying". This process can take up to 6 months.

3) "Local Terms Pay" is basically A320 FO pay, that is about P150,000/month ($3200US) for an 80 hour month. This is Captains Pay on the ATR.

4) Worst schedules in the industry.

5) maximum of 8 days off per month. (not consecutive)

6) Vacation and Sick leave are not payed for. Take time off and they deduct your flight pay. Very expensive to get sick or take vacation.

7)You will sign a "training bond" even if you are type rated. The latest bonds were for $50,000 US and 3 years. If you quit 2 years, 11 months and 29 days into the bond you are responsible to repay the whole amount.

8) You must give 90 day notice to resign if you decide to leave.

9) Sub par training, sim training is the worst.

10) Poorly maintained airplanes

11) Very slim chance of upgrades to A320 or A330. If an expat even worse.

12) Management? Worst in the industry.

The reason the pay is so low is that if you are an ATR F/O and have command time on any other turbine you can get in as a captain on the ATR at Cebu. The requirements do not as for any command time on the ATR.

So you can apply without time on type and still be considered as Captain as long as you have previous turbine time??

CP has long kept their hiring practices, T&C and pay very secret as not to scare off any prospective suckers, er, I mean pilots.

There is a reason CP is showing record profits, when you don't pay your employees sh!t then all of the profits flow through to the owners.

The bond is there whether typed or not. The bond has nothing to do with training (although that's what is alleged).

The bond is there to trap the pilot into servitude, period. Working conditions and pay, T&C are so dismal they must resort to this to keep employees, if you can call them that.
