China Airlines 777 Expat Captain Positions
Fellow Colleagues,

I am interested in moving from my present location to a new job. I'm currently interested in a position with China Airlines as B777 expat Captain.

Can any expat captains at CAI, brief me on the contract terms, Salary, days off, possible basing, etc.

I am currently in the Middle East and would like to relocate due to family. And possibly have my days off in Vancouver.

All information on the company, Taiwan, cockpit culture, company culture would be appreciated.

Kind Regards.

Thumbs up General conditions

Hello there,
I am Cpt in Cal but I can only give you general ideas about Cal.
You can have 8 consecutive days off in a month, Traveling to Vancouver is possible ( but on a long run a bit tiring)

Some 747 expats have ELO base, no idea about 777 crew.

Life in Taiwan is not bad, the city is not the most beautiful but very comfortable.
English is spoken, Chinese helps outside the company.

Taxes is 20 per 100 flat if less than 183 days outside Taiwan, higher otherwise.

Annual Leave maybe starting with 2 or 2.5 in a month starting from 6 moths(not so sure anymore)

Payed sick leave only 5

Housing allowance will cover your rent (renting near airport you might save something but I do not recommend if you like decent private life)

Very different flying style compared to western countries but very standard, nothing outside the book, nevertheless people are very respectful, good CRM.

Not the best company but not too bad, if you are money chaser better looking elsewhere, if not you might consider.

SCA

Try SCA in CAN. Possibility of RSP from CYVR on 77F (787 flying pax to YVR) if we can get a few more Canucks. JFK also a future option if numbers materialism. Many at EK using Longreach.
