Very long time to command, 2 sim checks initially (1 with airline, other with the regulator), huge medical examination...
Anyone else care to add further?

For China Airlines of Taiwan as opposed to Air China of mainland China:
Pay for an F.O. is probably in the $5000/month range. Maybe it's up to $6000 now, but pretty low compared to Vietnam and Korean pay for F.O.s
One good benefit is national health insurance. I know, I've had a kid there and it was good care at a very affordable price. Easy to get in to see doctors for minor issues as well.
Can't help you with the rest.

Current pay for the FOod around 105-115K per year and they do upgrade expat FO. The upgrade is all depend on seniority and suitability. The current time to command is about 7 years.
The taxes are 20% flat. Tax declarations are due by May of the next year and depending on certain items you can get refund between 8 to 10%.
It is paid in August.
About upgrades, it gonna depend in the fleet you are flying. For 747 there wasn´t any expat upgrade between 2008 and 2014.
Most of the upgrades in the 744 fleet at this moment are expats who joined the company between 8/9 years ago.
For the 330 and 737 fleets the story could be shorter.
Having to renew the contract every 3 years is a big risk to be dismissed if the economy of the company or the country is not good at the moment of the renewal.
By the way, FOQA is punitive, there are a lot of restrictions for FOs.
Every time somebody do something wrong like hard landings, atc violations, etc, the first thing they do is to forbid the landing of the FO.
For instance, FO can not land in Anchorage, SFO (visual), Chicago, New York (visual/NPA)...

It has happened from the 738 to the 744 (FO to FO, 744 FO to 737 Capt, Capt to Catpt) I haven't known of any expat moving from the Boeing fleet to the Airbus fleet or vice versa.
Any expat who joins CAL should know that they are requiered but not welcome and for that reason you are going to be the last to be consider for an upgrade or a fleet transfer.
It is not a long term job not even to consider an upgrade or fleet transfer.

China Airlines 777 Expat Captain Positions
Fellow Colleagues,
I am interested in moving from my present location to a new job. I'm currently interested in a position with China Airlines as B777 expat Captain.
Can any expat captains at CAI, brief me on the contract terms, Salary, days off, possible basing, etc.
I am currently in the Middle East and would like to relocate due to family. And possibly have my days off in Vancouver.
All information on the company, Taiwan, cockpit culture, company culture would be appreciated.
Kind Regards.

China Airlines 777 Expat Captain Positions
Further to my previous post,
Can any expat pilot give me any information if CAI is hiring for DEC onto their new B777 fleet. Also what is the selection process like, medical process, and how many days is the interview/ sim process.
If suitable, how long does the company take to inform you if they will be giving you a position, and how much time do they allow you to give your previous employer. My present company requires a 3 months notice.
Kind Regards.
