Hainan had a very bad rep for excessive line training as of 2 years ago. A couple 73 guys I know were in training for over a year and both came current with >10k PIC on the 73.
I also heard from a recruiter(the owner of the agency) that the 330 ccq and a very high failure rate. Like, all of them.

I think BCA and Tianjin were both better places to work.

My personal knowledge is 2 years old.

They have an advert here on pprune, however following the link leads to a rather sparse and confusing site.
Can anyone tell me what is actually being offered for dec on 737. Would only be interested in comuting style contract.
Ie salary, bonus , work schedule, accommodation etc.

737

Came back from the first half of screening recently, so maybe guys who are actually there can provide more first hand experience.
As far as my first impression goes: very amature recruiting department. If they are not trying to impress aplicants, I can only imagine how they treat people who already signed.
Anyways, money is pretty much as advertised, no commuting, they only want local, sched is 4 on 2 off ( days it is) or so, living conditions/expenses depending on base you chose.
Overall very unprofessional though.
If someone offers big bucks, there is a good reason for it.

Devil BEWARE OF FALSE MODESTY

Before you even consider coming to China for the first time, here are few facts, not rants about this HNA-Overseas, a wolf in sheep skin:

1. You will never see your paid travel and/or documentation money reimbursed. You have to make at least two to three trips to China to start class, and when I say China, they toss you around different cities making you pay the tax portion of your ticket, to be reimbursed.

2. HNA-Overseas is a scam operation. The whole team was created to shaft Pilot Agencies for paying salaries to pilots sitting home awaiting the long process of recruitment. If you thought the Greeks invented burocracy, check again what Marco Polo left behind in this land and it only smells bad to say the least.

3. What they tell you in the initial interview is lies and deception. There is no $348000.oo income after tax per year, not even half of it, they are adding old values of cost accommodation, medical insurance, and other perks from which you actually contribute a portion for your family.

4. Training is non existent. The LIP(line instructor pilots) are a bunch of nomads who treat you worse than a new recruit, you are considered a First Officer even if you joined with over 5000 hors PIC on time.

5. English levels, not even Level one. Most of senior instructors need interpreter and CAAC SIM checkride is a show were you only wonder why you came here on the first place; This language problem applies on your daily routine even in the larger cities in China, PEK,SHA,CAN does not matter, you live and breath a polluted environment in darkness.

6. Chinese never look at you in your eye; They are also misguided by unexperienced project managers who are not there to help you but to make money out of pilots during recruitment by not refunding your claims.

7. Google is not available here, so you need other slow motion websites that without help you cannot read as they are all in Chinese and subject to hackers and predators to steal your identity.

8. Money is the only reason you are looking at this gig, well think again, you will have to go through several hurdles to get half of what they advertised for. Foreign pilots spend over six, nine, and 12 months, during line training; There are few experienced checkers, but not a single instructor, they have no idea of recruiting experienced pilots.

9. I wish I can continue, but they just called me for a flight, by the way you have no rosters, at the end of your day off, they inform you last minute of your pattern for the next five to six days, you are at the mercy of clercks here, there is no Operatonal Control Centre; Burger King or McD is runned better that this outfit.

I recommend highly another post at PPrune called, IF YOU LIKE..., it is crystal clear about what you are about to face if you persist coming this far. I am already putting job applications elsewhere. I made a mistake coming here.

Do not buy any promises from HNA-Overseas, they betrayed even their own pilot agencies to recruit the Chinese way, cheap and ordinary methods, this place stinks!

Smile Hainan Air Information Please.!

Hello All,

I am looking at Hainan to fly their A330 and looking for good data from anyone who is currently working there. I have read the posts here duly noted, thanks.

But I am still trying to conform the data from anyone, especially those working at Hainan Air. If you have worked there in the past 6 months is good too.

I have been reading for years about Hainan Air and understand lately they have changed their recruiting department and process.

Feel free to PM me as well..!

Thanks much..!

Happy Trails.

new recruitment team?

Hi all,

I se a lot of 'pprune style" bitching here, and,as usual, very little facts.

Could anyone, employed as PIC in 2014-2015 on A330 give his real feedback on how things are for A330 Captains and their rosters, please?

Anyone doing 1 month ON, 1 month OFF?

Anyone bases in Europe?

Any credible feedback on training period until release?

What about the new recruitment team and what's the reason behind the "HNA Direct" broker-less options? Is is better to go through a broker?

Thanks for any factual feedback. PM welcome, too.
Happy flying

I left Hainan June 2012 and some of my friends are still there.
We were on A340 and one of my friend's conversion to A330 took 12 months.
As he is rather used to the way Hainan works and knows their limitations this did not faze him at all, he rather expected it. So he did his 8 months linetraining, sometimes flying righthand seat when the planned instructor was otherwise disposed, just being flexible as usual.
I think you can only survive if you come with an open mind and are willing to try at least different ways of thinking. I always thought that logic is universal but .....
The good thing: salary was never a problem and on time.
nice, funny people on the flightdeck and in the back(the . . moronpercentage is the same as in every other company)
But not for the fainthearted or with family!!!
BTW: he is still on a 70% parttimecontract with guaranteed 14 days off in Europe, traveldays not counted)

Post For your eyes only

Indeed Dignified is missed, he won the Nobel price in pprune for best posts ever, he has something de facto users lack of, big B@lls. Check loco330 or emergency exit, they also post fresh and up to date facts about the fantasy job of ¥348 per year. You are better of with posting threads on this forum on behalf of pprune admin, I like the one in Aussie land, good thought.

Let me think.

Single engine.
Direct Law.
Dual FMGC failure.
Overweight, in Kunming.
NDB DME RWY 03 Circle to land 21. (can't remember RWYs in Kunming)
Incapacitated FO. (This might make things a bit easier)

Are any Chinese sims different than this?
