Swiss Pilot intercepted and escorted by Indonesian F16 after airspace intrusion

The article is in Bahasa Indoensia, but the gist of it says that a Swiss pilot flying a SX-300 type aircraft with registration N54JX was intercepted by an Indonesian airforce F16 and escorted to Soewondo Airbase in Medan after flying in Indonesian airspace without a clearance.

The pilot, Hainz Pieter, was flying from Colombo to Subang, Kuala Lumpur when intercepted near Meulaboh, Aceh (northern Sumatra) on 10th April 2014. He is currently being questioned by Indonesian authorities.

Some interesting photos of his welcoming party by the Indonesian Army surrounding his aircraft with machine guns aimed at him as he surrenders with arms in the air. I hope he brought a change of underwear with him after that ordeal.

Flight plan

Flightaware presently shows a "scheduled" route over Indonesia. Sri Lanka to Malasia. 1000 miles over the Indian Ocean - likely homebuilt. Brave man.

N54JX ? FlightAware

Oh, and he has a nice bike.

Not sure what an SE30 is, but I believe that this is an SX-300. Same pilot that was fined $38,000 after landing non-radio at Strasbourg for a toilet stop and being found to be carrying $25,000 of undeclared diamonds.

Sounds like an interesting chap.

I'd love one with a diesel in it.

Laughable.

It looks like the Indonesians are trying to make themselves look super alert after having failed to track a certain effin' huge T7 whilst they were all fast asleep. Ho-hum......
