A Batavia Air plane carrying 163 passengers skidded off the runway at Sultan Syarif Kasim airport in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Friday.

Endang Purwanti, one of the passengers, said someone else on board told her they saw sparks in the cabin and one of the crew members holding a fire extinguisher before it landed.

The plane circled above the airport before it landed, she added.

All the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane. There was no official statement from Batavia management or state airport operator Angkasa Pura regarding the incident.

Silk Air have a brake fire, which is an ocupational hazard for fast jets, NTSB then make a huge fuss and demand all sorts of investigations.

Have not heard a squeak regarding this, where 163 plus crew were in peril.

DId they the crew file a mandatory report? hhhmm i doubt it.

any offers as to why silence from DGCA and the rest??????

.....And what shall be the level of experience, Qualification, and hrs on type of the Individuals involved??? One can only imagine??? I can hear the rustling of dollar bills and the low murmurs of voices in corridors as the problem is "fixed" in true Indonesian style..........
