Hi guys!
what about the possibility to be 'based' in the US (LAX?) I heard that you can have your rosters starting and ending there..

Obrigado!

Bump.

Currently flying for an American Airlines wholly owned regional in the US, not far off upgrading as Captain and getting check airman approval, flow to mainline in approx 4-5 years from now assuming I don't get picked up by another legacy/major before hand.

Is EVA worth considering? I just had a random recruiter email me on linkedin asking if I was interested.

Rescue helicopter pilot background, recently made the jump to part121 flying. 33 years old, so not at the end of my career but by no means at the start either. Purely a numbers game for me, is it worth waiting to end up at mainline AA (probably the best option) or is it worth looking at one of these contract jobs?

Havick

Please do not consider any of the foreign carriers when AA is only a few years away.

I was thinking the same thing. Just confirmed my original thoughts.

I just got a copy of the contract from the recruiter and to be honest, the wholly owned regionals are offering a better deal once you take everything into account.

Is EVA worth considering? Most EVA pilots are considering China at this time.
Locals, not foreign crew, mind you.

EVA vs a MAJOR.....NO BRAINER (Money, schedule, home, environment...)

EVA vs a REGIONAL...I'd say it all depends on what you really want. Check the info closely and ask around. I don't believe the regionals match up (at least money wise), but again it depends on what YOU are looking for.

just my clueless opinion....

good luck

Lots of BS

Eva Air is really not an airline to work for... culture of fear and pressure, low salary, bad behaviour and treatments. Fake benefits regarding tickets to go back home. They will always find a way not to let you onboard if the flight is full. In their policy it is clearly mentionned that commuting guys have 2 priority seats on board, and at the end, they will give it to pax... money for chineese...
If you can cope with that, then it should be fine... anyway, happy to move in china, 1ON/1OFF and much more money... I heard it's basically the same there, but at least they compensate with 1OFF and more money!! 😬

Not only that, but no CRM, airmanship or basic flying skills from a LOT of captains and IPS.
They have monthly hard landing events and multiple ATC violations. Brokers won't tell you the initial type training is 19 sim sessions. ATPL is a paper and not recognized by ICAO standards. I could go on and on....

Eva , get in , get the experience you want and leave . It’s rotating door, they know , this the low salaries. You will get good training , sure there are some nasty captains, just play the game. The guys you fly the line with are great , and you will have good times down the line.

I'm dual Taiwanese and Kiwi, currently training in NZ. I'm been considering applying for EVA/CAL once I complete training. Do CAA's around the world not recognise hours/type/ratings flown at Taiwanese carriers? I've heard of multiple ex EVA's working for Emirates/Chinese/Korean Airlines. Will NZCAA recognise my experience at Taiwanese carriers down the line?

The hours you log should count no matter what. Just that as mentioned earlier, Taiwan CAA ratings are not ICAO so therefore, are not guaranteed to convert. The ex-EVAs hired by Emirates/Korean Air/mainland Chinese carriers most likely had their employers facilitate or sponsor the conversion process.

I've heard that some countries which have better relations w/ Taiwan will allow conversion via an informal arrangement. It's probably best you specifically confirm w/ NZCAA though to see if they have such an process.

We did have a Kiwi Taiwanese at our flight school who made it to CAL. Good luck!
