confused....

confused....

hey guys,
i am an indian national in grade 11, and it has been my passion to become a pilot for a very long time now.
everyone has told me that if you wanna become a pilot do not do it in india....
so, now i am left with 2 choices, either to the JAA ATPL or the FAA ATPL, as in my opinion these are really good licenses...
but after acquiring either of the 2, i know i wouldn't have a chance to get a job in the EU or US, as all airlines prefer their own nationals, epically for people who are fresh from the academies.... So, after doing either of these licenses, i plan to then convert it to the indian dgca license, as i will have a much larger scope in india...
now what i am really confused about is, which license would be better to do in the first place before converting it to the dgca license, the FAA ATP ot the JAA ATPL??

If you end up with an FAA ATP, you should not have much problems getting some odd job or the other in GA in USA.
Expect to get paid peanuts.
Im saying this only because I have met people who were made to believe by several shady outfits with questionable integrity (mostly run-of-the-mill schools run by some Indian/NRI) that they would get a starting salary of $40-50,000 a year after they acquire their FAA licenses and instructor ratings !

Also, You would get better info on GA and other stuff in USA in another portal similar to pprune called airlinepilotcentral.com

As far as getting employment in India is concerned, it makes absolutely no difference whether you get your licenses/certificates in India or convert your foreign license to an Indian CPL.
When airlines recruit, they will call whosoever they feel like based on some vague and shady criteria. (there are cases where people have applied several times and yet did not get invited for the selection process for reasons unknown).

As for the ones who do get called for tests/interviews ... it doesnt matter what licences you hold, as long as you have an Indian CPL with Multi-Engine rating.
You will have to go through the same written tests and interviews, along with those who trained in India, or converted their FAA/JAA/CASA/Philipino/Canadian/South African or what have you. licenses.

Which of the two ? FAA or JAA ? Both are fine. Training in the EU would be more expensive in general than in USA. UK is especially expensive taking into account the living costs too.
Training in USA would be of shorter duration, more flexible and cheaper comparatively. (And no ... there's no cutting corners anywhere. You just have an overdose of theory in JAA syllabus, most of which you would anyway have to learn when you get back to India to convert your license)
