Merpati is owned by the Indonesian government and I don't think they hire expat pilots. Not that I know of anyway. Merpati pilots are often the first to be looking elsewhere in Asia for jobs so for a foreigner to be wanting to work there says a lot about the desperate times we live in.

Take a look at this thread and you will know what he means.

Batavia Air

Expat pilots can only work in Indonesia if they are experienced and in a check and training capacity, usually for a new type entering the country and no Indonesian national is available to do the job.

first officer would realistically get between 500 usd and 1200 usd per month. Most 737 first officers in indonesia start on as little as 500 usd per month with a 7 year bond. Would imagine similar for MZ ATR fleet.

Cidomo drivers get paid more. On a good day, they can get $20. One month, can get $600.

The saying is actually "It's Merpati and I'll die if I want to" ..

Anyone remember a fatal accident a few years ago at Surabaya where they we conducting asymmetric circuit training in a F-27 and crashed? Don't have the full details but here it is in brief. Seems like pretty elementary stuff, but yet, three perished as a result of this accident.

Andy05, you seem like the type of person who will continuously ask the same question until you hear the 'feel-good' answer you wish to hear. And do you realistically expect a local Indonesian Merpati pilot to be here on PPRuNe? Sorry to say this, but this just shows how naive you are about the Indonesian aviation industry.
