Roster comparison

Hi guys just a quick question/comparison with those of you flying in Asia or around the world.

55 sectors short/medium haul in the last month, generally 11/12 hrs duty a day, 12 to 15 hrs rest in between, for a total of about 91 block hours with 12 days off..plenty of bad weather/general delays (it's summer after all) would you consider this a lot? normal? would you think it's an ok schedule or not?

As everything is relative in this life, I am just looking for honest opinions to try and get perspective, thanks.

Far east: 6 sectors as flight crew, 3 sectors positioning. Somewhat slow month for hours and sectors per month which can vary a lot(normally do more with perhaps 15 max due to a decent amount of short haul as well from 1.5 to 3 hour legs and medium haul), 1 groundschool day, 1 medical check day, 1 standby, 2 layover, 15 days off(12 of which are in a row extending into next month for a total of 20 in a row but after being here for 6 weeks). About 68 hours in aircraft. 56 time zones crossed. Lots of roster changes with final schedule much different than originally published(some flights changed more than once). Always get groups of days off requested(although certain times of the year can have restrictions). First class flight almost to home.

...

European (East) low cost- in July
95 hrs, 40 sectors, as well- lots of bad weather, delays etc.
11 actual off days, plus some on line training on other days.
10 morning flights with around 4 am local check in, plus commuting on off days of course.
Tired as a dog.
August pretty similar.

PS Would be interesting to compare the money earned as well

nrtflyby your roster is the winner so far as far as I am concerned, is it NCA you fly for? sounds like the ideal month to me..

Using the OP's numbers.

91 hours blocks in 19 days = add 19 x 1.5 hours for pre and post flight duties = 28.5 hrs + 91 => 119.5 hrs blocks plus required duties.

19 days work @ 11 hrs/day => 209 duty hours

209 - 119.5 = 89.5 hours spent between flights on ground during duty day.

89.5 hours/55 sectors flown => average time between sectors ~1h35 which seems quite a long time/inefficient, especially as the average sector 91/55 is pretty much exactly the same?

So on the face of it, doable ... but doubtlessly, 91 hours 55 sectors/month is a lot and must be very tiring over time especially as you get older.

Checking my records, the most I ever did was 49 in a month on B737's back in 1993. I retired from a longhaul fleet where I averaged 845 hours & 94 sectors/year; ave length 9 hrs.- much more my cup of tea.

Bon chance!
