But for now I am stuck with the RT exam which I have on 20th april. I have done the studies myself but want some suggestions from you (That is only if you have passed the RT exams yourself, No kidding, coz I have got some wierd suggestion from fellow pilots (a******3 )in here who have got no idea, what they are talking about).

walia_airborne,

First off, I have not suggested anything to you regarding the RT exams.

If you are referring to my earlier post .. yes, I still stand by it.

The surest way to pass the Indian RT exam is ONLY by paying (to the right agent ofcourse)
Otherwise go to some good experienced teacher ...

Otherwise feel free to give it a try on your own and make sure you have some more cash left to go back to USA, Canada etc for your recency !!

I have been humored by your post , coz there has been little misunderstanding from your part. You seem to me like you have been exploited by this INDIAN SYSTEM, and now that you totally believe the system is full of crap and everybody from top to bottom is corrupt. I think you could be right, But seriously, do you think that giving sarkari babus some money will solve the problem?
Most of the people in here come to ask for help (and some to give help) but you seem to be doing none. You are just making some statements about some people in goverment offices accepting bribe. You just sound like a dalla(broker) to me.
otherwise you would have really mentioned the details of the officials involved, if you had any real proof. It would be helpful if you could give some good instuctors' contact details rather than suggesting the bribe option. I believe there should be integrity when it comes to obtaining QUALIFICATIONS for this profession.

@walia

I believe he conducts classes in most cities and in the city where the exam is to be held about 10 days before. Give him a call and see whether that's going to be the case this time. I had a friend who had gone to him for classes. He cleared it in his second shot. Flunked in II the first time.
I believe the 'SELCAL' questions have been done away with now. Expect 1-2 emergency/urgency questions. Question 5 (the one with multiple "sub-questions") is a little tricky, but don't spend too much time on that one. The pass % for part I is 50% IIRC.
The part that I found most ridiculous was the call signs:
Kingfisher = kingfish air
Jet Airways = Jet
IA = Ind Air

...silly.

I did attempt and successfully clear the RTR(A) exam held during Feb-Mar'09 in mumbai.(my first attempt at it!)

As Arcane said, most of the HF (Selcal/FIR Boundary) calls are done away with!
Even Emergency/Urgency Q's were little to none.
Instead they now try and quiz you on Callsigns ; G8 (GoAir) n 6E (Ifly) being crowd favourites!!!

Trying and keeping a calm head and not FREAKING out on seeing those absurd charts should help you get through!

My $0.02!!

if you knw the radio procedures no one can fail you.
and believe me every failure @ exams will teach you new things,dooooonot consider it as a failure.

it needs just 15 days of focussed practice

@ agent 123

give proper true heading to steer rather than QDMs.

Is a candidate even supposed to know such things in order to qualify for a radio telephony licence ??

I mean ... thats so retarded !

Imagine if such an exam were to be conducted in the US by the FCC ! The poor candidate would have to learn each and every airport's Identifier (more than 19,000 of them ) and all the airlines's call signs ! American, United, Southwest, Continental, FedEx, UPS, Skywest, Alaska Air, NorthWest, JetBlue, Delta PHEW !!! ...

Now .. just in case, I better start studying who exactly built each airport in India and also whom it is named after! ummm Delhi - GMR (Indira Gandhi Intl), Mumbai (???) Chatrapati Shivaji Intl ..

Crib and complain about the big, bad and corrupt DGCA (and other such Indian organizations) and then ask for help on how to BRIBE someone because you're inadequate. Bravo, old chap !
