Hi guys of 116! Since no one has come up with any suggestions so far I suggest we meet up on the 14th of Nov. Time will be 1900. Place tentatively would be Suntec City. Any violent objections feel free to voice out. PM me for my hp number if anyone of you wants to contact me. Cheers!
I have applied for the position of cadet pilot once in July and again in Sept. Sadly, there have been no news from SIA till now. I certainly look forward to the career as a pilot! I need an interview to get started, be it successful interview or not. Sigh...
This is my status so far,
Age: Just turned 25
Qualifications: Engineering (Hons 3rd class)
Job experience: Nil (not considering part time)
Anything wrong with this status that doesn't qualify me for an interview? I plead for your opinions that can help me in anyway. Thank you.
eyesight- short, long vision,colour...hearing- put in in a concealed room, then cap ur head with a BIG headphone...chest xray...blood...urine-for drugs abuse??...your heart !!-ecg...your bmi and some routine knocking on ur stomach to see if u got a sotong in ur stomach

God damn it OBS is @#$%#@$^@, But fun filled and I do really enjoyed it a lot, looking at the positive side. If you guys want to train up for obs, do a bit of running and train your detoids endurance (for kayaking). My course and I enjoyed our Outward Bound alot, and we knew each other better true all the activities. Some advice will be;
1. Bring 2 shoes (1 x wet, 1 x run)
2. Snake powder (Mandatory)
3. Try to bring a camera, our course only had a camera to capture the kodak moments.
4. Sun Block (Mandatory-Go for SPF 50)
5. An Open Mind
Its wonderful to see you guys made it through the interview. For those guys who are still waiting up, no news is very good news. For those guys who are wondering if they should give up trying applying for SQ ab-initio, do not give up till your last drop of effort, good things don't come easy.
Other than the stuff you mentioned above, is there anything else we need to bring there (clothes, equip, etc).. cos I'm currently compiling a shopping list for OBS and also SFC.
Btw, I'm looking for one of those kinetically charged flashlights, any idea where to get them in M'sia?
1) Kayaking
2) Sailing (Whaler)
3) Jungle Trekking
4) Rafting
5) Rappelling
6) Rock climbing
7) Running (Not a lot compared to Ubin)
8) Games etc
The activities might be similar to Ubin, but the terrain is totally different. Bring a pair of glove if you are prone to getting blisters. You'll be paddling or rowing alot if there is no wind during your whaler expedition. Also, bring vinegar, ointment or other stuff to fight leeches and mosquitoes. You'll be seeing alot of these bloodsuckers. The SAF insect repellent is very effective against leeches. Bring LOTS of re-hydration salts. Those that you can mix with water and drink. It helps alot during your final expedition. Lastly, bring a nice pair of shades to look good for the camera.
Don't overpack, as most of the equipment will be provided. All I can say is that OBML is fun, so go physically prepared with an open mind, and you'll enjoy the experience with your new buddies. Whatever it is, take care not to get injured. All the best, and have fun!
hey guys thanks so much for the tips...i really didn't know what to expect.. at least you guys are giving us some kinda sneak preview of the OBS.. hehe...well then..after OBS are we going immediately to seletar? and which part of the course will we be goin to aussie n how long will it take there..since its not mentioned in the contract....??! k then..chiao!!
