Hi,

My thoughts were just merely towards the quality of people here whom just want to be spoon feed with information without even reading throught the advertisment for recruitment.

yes definetly flight crews are to work together and all will have the basic requirements for being a pilot. but take a look that any industry worldwide will have black sheeps around.... in schools in anywhere, doctors etc...therefore people with requirements doesnt mean they will perform as you perceive. Thus there is no point arguing about this point as you will experience what i meant if you have such situation before.

is there any point in time where you think that your teacher is not qualified yet he or she HOD or some senior personnel?

just my thoughts... yes cpts and fo work together but its cpts who are teaching the fo and with time to come the fo will be a capt in which the cycle will repeat.

great way to fly

@Avesh: You dont need to get all heated up,just relax...You dont need to bring in racism into the topic. Its just a simple misunderstanding. The guy was just trying to be a sciolist. He just could not phrase what he wanted to say properly.

I beleive it does. Just ask any singaporean wannabe out there and they will tell you its unfair, atleast i know a couple who would.

I don't think there is any racism or insecurity involved. We are in this together. So lets not argue. Lets work together. We are all anxious and it is understandable, but doing a bit of research will go a long way, not only here but also ahead in life. All our questions have been answered here before in this thread itself.

After reading this thread and others, it seems the cadet selection process is a long one. Once shortlisted, SIA will contact you. Two interview rounds are held. 1st round comprises of basic questions depending on the interviewers and your educational background.

Second round is held over two days with group exercises, psychometry tests and it ends with a tea party wherein the candidates are still being rated. Successful candidates are sent for medicals. If selected SIA will inform you about which batch you will join and the fleet you are headed to. And yes SIA sponsors the training Avesh.

Hope this helps.

I would like to clarify I had never meant to be degoratory nor racist in my comments. If anyone had misintepreted it as such, that's just too bad.

Yes, I believe all of us will try to find out the interview questions beforehand, but we will not ask it outright in a professional forum like this, at least not before we did a thorough search of it online.

To prevent any further misunderstanding, I have also said my piece and shall choose to remain silent from now on.

Cheers and good luck to all potential applicants.

@doraemoney

well I understand that you were only trying A380 to not to attack that particular sector.. but i think maybe you phrased it in a bit offending words.... never mind its all fine if your intentions were right..

cheers

If Captain's job is not to point out mistake? Get real! If u do not expect to be scolded by Capt, then good luck to you is all I can say.
well .. what I was trying to say is that captains job is not ONLY to point out mistakes but also to teach his FO the right things as well. Pointing out mistakes is not difficult.. even if you go jump seat some FO after just doing a type rating course you may be able to point out one or two mistakes.. but its the solution which is important.. and the way you encourage your FO to learn more.. if your idea of teaching is kick the shit out of your student.. good luck to you and your FO.!!

If an FO makes a mistake with respect to safety, u expect the Captain to do nothing and pretend nothing happened?
thats what you interpret of my statement.. !!

if that is the case it is infact very sad.. from the inception of the aviation boom in India we have seen so many expats flying for us even FO's not just captiains.. although people who protest are always there.. but what I believe why we hired them was because of our own need.. and believe me even SIA is not out for social work and welfare for india.. they might be having some requirement for indian citizens.. who knw's they want to expand their operations in India.. and who do you think will be the best person to fly and be based in India.. a singaporean or an Indian.. would you be happy to stay away from home.. its all about personal choice.. what i am trying to say is there is no question of being against it.. but if you are its your choice.. no offence to anyone..

cheers

not trying to hit back or watever, in case u think i am

truth is, I wish all line capts are nice and provide me with solutions for my mistakes in the past. But in reality..... its another matter. Its just like u have nice teachers who point out your mistakes nicely, and u also have teachers to scream the hell out of you for the slightest mistake u make.

I subscibe to theory X in management theory, but also there are theory Y captains around. I do hope when u are in the left seat, you are a theory X cos that is wat I personally believe.

Lets move on. But for potential wannabes, it'll do many people a favour by doing a search before posint any questions.

Exclamation is the resume enough?

Hey All

I am new to this thread infact to this site....and I have read few posts and one that caught my attention was the one that states there is no need to put in anything more than your resume ..... this might hold good for singapore, malaysia etc but if you really consider the situation in india (considering the number of application would be atleast 6-7 times more than what SIA might have handled in the past) it wouldnt really hurt to put in some other supporting documents as well.....
Another important thing that is presently on everybodys mind is the response time ....
due to the same above reason I would say it would take them atleast 2-3 months
for SIA to shortlist people for interviews (given the fact they take 1 month in case of singapre cadets prog) ...... and Does anybody has any idea how many cadets are they looking for ??
or how many cadets are inducted every year from singapore or malaysia or penang??

Response time ever since I can remember always vary between 2 weeks to 6 months... No one know how the queue works exactly... I got called for my first interview just only 2 weeks after I applied, whereas some of my coursemates had to wait for 5-6 months... And this was couple of years back...

As for submitting other documents, why do you have to be worry about? Just submit whatever you think will make your application better. I attached the whole scanned pages of my PPL and logbooks together with my resume...

Cheers and good luck..

AAAH....OH MY!!!!! I knew this day would come.. What exactly do you think has happened?????There are a million speculative answers floating around...Could it be that a hacker has hacked into SIA recruitment system and stolen all our personal records to use against us??? Or is this the result of the top secret operation Indian Airforce is involved in????
OR is it merely a techinal glitch in sia recruitment system??? We will probably never know the truth......

But one thing is for sure, our friend avesh's application has disappeared..... and our friend raj is very much concerned and wants to find out the truth.... All I can do as a mere spectator in this horrible tragedy is wish our friend raj luck in his quest to find out the absolute fact....

Goodluck buddy raj... DOGSPEED

such things happens like life in the cockpit

guys

such things happen. Whats the point of speculating? hacking into SIA computers? *Faint* Top secret operation by Indian Air force?

If cockpit computer acts up, do pilots go on speculating whether did someone hack into the FMS?

This is life, in the cockpit, a thousand things can happen, speculation is a definitely no no!

At worst, apply the next time round!
