Joycehimhim,

Congrats! I didn't expect that local candidates will be invited to 2nd in this quick but well done.

I feel so good for you for just having to wait a few days for the result. I waited for more than a month! hehe

Gd Luck!

Joycehimhim,

Congrats!

What questions were asked in your 1st in? just personnel? or also technical questions?

Regarding the ICAO English Test, you means both the test and 2nd in on the same day and the test go first? or the test on the other day before the 2nd in?

Just general HR questions and mine were really random one... but difficult one... like interview by general companies ...

Eng test and medical check first
then 2nd In and personality test
finally the social lunch and group exercise ...

And the saff will schedule all the days with you when they call you after the 1st interview

in fact they didn't even ask about background knowledge of their company
(and the lady who called did mention to me that the personality test would be in english.)

Guys, in case anyone is interested there is a post detailing the training at FTA. It is in the "Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme" thread of the Fragrant Harbour forum, post number 597. Rest assured that the actual cadet training of the CXCPP and KACPP are exactly the same, so the information applies to you guys as well.

Good luck all!!

2nd interview

Hey Guys,

Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about the 2nd interview?

Is it gonna be a HR + Technical interview or is it just a Technical interview (rumours)?

Thanks for sharing

Would those having done the first interview shed some light on their experience and questions asked? There doesn't seem to be a lot of information in this thread regarding stages anywhere beyond the Aptitude test.

It's pretty much a standard HR interview - why you want to be a pilot, family background, career background, current job, etc. Not much you can prepare for unless you count reviewing your intentions of applying for the job and knowing yourself well, in fact they didn't even ask me anything regarding their company bg.

They do ask things like what would your husband/wife think if you had to fly over to australia for a year (if married), what would you do if you didn't make it, why do you want to quit your current job, what kind of people do you hate the most, how do you think you rank amongst other candidates... and so on.

As for Stage 2 (after HR interview) it comprises of a Medical Check, Group Exercise, Tech Interview (the "Final Interview" as the Dragonair staff put it), ICAO test, and social lunch. Medical is done in central - height/weight/BP measurement, standard blood / urine test (they specifically mentioned testing for HIV), chest x-ray, optical, ECG, audiogram (they give you a headset playing different frequencies at different amplitudes and you press a button if you hear a sound).

Those who've done the tests correct me if I've left anything out.

was wondering about the education backgrounds of those that applied and especially those that have passed the first interview; is it heavily stressed by the airline/interviewers?

I don't think so. I know of someone who made it through, and he didn't have any tertiary education qualifications. Besides, if they didn't like your academic qualifications they would not have invited you to the Initial Test or any of the subsequent stages. It's all about convincing them that your education background will help (or at least not hinder) your path towards professional flying. Hope this helps, and good luck.
