Can anyone provide me with the #number of an ophthalmologist in Toronto that will satisfy the requirements of CX? I.e. able to do a contrast sensitivity test? I must've called close to 30 clinics in toronto and most of them are either putting me on a waiting list or do not have the equipment to do this test. Any help would be greatly appreciated since round 2 has already started in HK and here I am unable to go cuz of this test...
I had a look at the HK CAD website and it looks like there are no doctors in Canada that are registered to do a HKCAD medical. UK and Australia do have a handful of doctors though.
Specific to eye tests, there is nothing they can't do in CA that CX are asking for. You should clarify exactly what HK want. Any high-street optician conducts the tests needed by CX.
Does anyone know the specific eye sight requirements for a HK class 1 medical - i've looked on their website countless times and emailed them, only to be told that i should see one of their associated doctors. Does anyone have a link or any useful information??? Thanks
I'm wondering why he/she has to do it in Canada when the medical for a HK ATPL must be issued in HK. Even if the eye test was done in Canada, it would have no significance right?
Not really. For example, our cadets in ADL need to renew their medical at least once. There is a registered doctor in ADL that are licensed to issue HKCAD Class 1s.
In terms of the OP, my guess is that he/she put on the medical form after being successful at stage 1 that he wore glasses. Maybe CX wanted an intial test done in CA first with the results forwarded to HK before they bring him/her to HK for Stages 2/3.
The OP mentioned a contrast sensitivity test. Thats just a fancy way of saying a colour test right? Anyway like I said, any opticians do the full eye test so I cant really see the problem? Unless you live somewhere that only has one optician per 10'000 population.
P.s yes i see what you mean now. The intital HK CAD Class 1 needs to be issued in Hong Kong. But CX dont want him to do the Class 1 in CA. Just get some optical results first.
I had l@ser eye surgery done back in January and that's why they want to make sure that my eyes are ok before sending me to HK for round 2/3(from what I've heard from asking around). For future reference if this has happened to you, go back to where you've done your eye surgery, they should have all the equipment necessary to assist you (with a fee of about $110 CDN). That's where I'm going in 3 hrs...I just hope it's not too late since I know they're already doing rounds 2/3 this week...maybe i'll be joining the folks from the UK with their rounds 2/3?
Ah, that makes sense. And also shows otehrs here that contrary to popular myth, lasik treatment does not void an application outright. Providing the l@ser treatment did not rectify an issue that would have failed your Class 1. For example if you were over the +3 -3 diopeter limit and you had l@ser treatment to rectify that, then that would still be a fail for the initial medical.
And dont worry about missing the "canadian batch" who go to Stage 2 and 3. You'll be sent at a later date. It really is ongoing and you ceratinly haven't missed the boat.
Thanks, i know that the UK CAA has the visual standards on their website but i can't for the life of me find them on the HKCAD website - in the UK the limit is +6/-6 dioptres and i'm just curious if the HK limit is actually +3/-3 cos that seems really low????
Hi, Same here, going to the second stage interview 2nd week in December. Does anyone have information regarding this? Would be much appreciated.
Question on the initial interview: I found it to be more personal than anything else? Sure, some technical question, but more personal in my experience. The technical test wan't much of a problem.
Good luck, and be yourself! That is the only advice I can offer. Trying to be someone else will only bite you in the @ss later in the interview process.
