lack of infrastructure along with corrupt people has made this field what it is today.. there was a boom in aviation through out the world but in India we didnt know how to sustain that boom , how to utilize that boom , nobody had a forethought about this sudden aviation uprise , had there been a proper planning we would not have required so many expat pilots , i guess our problem is that we want to reach the destination somehow rather than enjoying the journey itself . no shortcut to success have to go the right way

"Well they know that people are desperate for jobs right now and will do anything to get one, so why not profit from it??"
That's real ethical that is! Same mindset as drug dealers/pushers.

Any expat captains out there on this thread???
Hello IndAir967!!! Great post and a good source of information. Please keep it up!!! I will do the same. BTW, Air India is looking for 777 capts
Any expat captains working in this region?? I like to hear more about working with the cockpit culture, management culture, and the local culture.
I have enough time for a 777 DEC specifically, and just received a some application packages from a few recruiting agencies for Air India. Anyone have information on the pros and cons with Sigmar or Next Generation Aviation Recruiters?? Any other agencies to recommend?

We sometimes talk about Indian Student Pilots calling themselves
- Captain - which we consider as an wrong attitude..
Now these airlines are also doing something on similar lines
which is similar to the former statement..
When will things change ?

i flew in India for two years, and even our dispatcher was wearing a pilot uniform. He was a bonehead, and filed FL460 when our service ceiling was FL410. At max weight we were only able to reach around FL350...plus we were going east so we needed a odd altitude. Not to mention they forged my signature on the flight plan....errrrrrrrr
Now i find myself jobless, with a little bit of jet experience and an Indian license/FAA license, and there are guys with 250 hours paying their way in? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Do I have to pay my way in even though I am 5 times more qualified then the basic cpl holder and actually have jet experience? grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well I have the money...and I would pay, but I'm skeptical to whether they would actually give me a job, or not just eat the interest of my money, and give it back...or give it back at all, all while wasting my life.
DO you have any contact information for Indigo, GO AIR, or Spice jet?
Let me know.

Okay, thanks for all the input~ I'm still a little confused It makes me want to cry! So I took a little napp. Then I my head against the wall.
Anyway, If I get this right:
To get employed with an airline in India as an FO I must pay a "pimp" to hook me up with an airline and make payments to each (5lacs and 25 lacs respectively). Now at that point, I am guaranteed to eventually fly for them, and until then I will get paid 15,000 RS per month?
Is this how it works or am I missing something.
Even if I have 1000 TT and 400 Jet time, I STILL can't get hired without this large payment?
I like this smiley :
