Yes, they do. A degree is not a pre-requisite and I know of a few officers who do not have degrees.

Indeed it is crazy...seems people don't know how to do their own research anymore...

Even crazier is that HR actively read this forum and now have the email of all those too lazy to research material themselves

Smile i am new to it indeed. please help me out

hi everyone
it has been my dream to be a pilot since i was 4
i am now a form 5(grade 11) student in hong kong.
because of my humble family background, getting into the cx cadet programme would be my only way to achieve my dream and i would like to start planning for it.

however i have a lot of questions about the tests and interviews.
for example,
1) the ICAO test isnt sth like a general english test. those pass it should have certain knowledge and special vocab about aviation. is there any book for me to study aviation english? or how should i prepare for it?

2) how much aviation knowledge should i have before applying the cadet programme? BAK and the one in FAA is enough or not?

3) i also want to get myself in contact with the industry and aviation. which magazine or book should i take a look? or anything else?

4) Any other suggestions for me???

looking forward to ur help and thx

Cadet pilot Flight Grading

Hi guys,

May I know the total length of flight grading required please?

From departure to arrival to Hong Kong, how many days in total are expected to be spent?
Is there any briefing need to attend prior to that as well?

Thanks,

Differences between AE and Cadet Compass tests

Cant see that this has been addressed specifically in this post, can any AE applicants offer insight? My understanding is that the Compass test for AE is slightly different from the cadet version and consists of the following:

Slalom
Orientation
maths test
flight control (with the rudder and VSI)
Short term memory (headings, alts etc)
a Multi tasking exercise
*physics test

Can anyone confirm if this is correct, im particularly unsure about the physics test.

many thanks

If your English is not fluent, then do not bother applying. English is the international language of aviation and I am disgusted every time I hear an Asiana, China Airlines (and sometimes the occasional Cathay) flight over ATC trying to understand the most simplest of instructions.

Thank you.

Transition Training Sim

Hi Normanton,

I recently got offered an interview in November. Was wondering what information you could give me on the sim session. Is it very involved, emergencies etc, or is it more of a see how you fly and handling sort of thing? Any info on the whole process would be great. Congratulations on getting through as well

Hi Guys,

Anybody applied from the US with a preference interview location of USA? Anybody had any luck for an interview? I sent my application last May and had updated it every month. No luck yet. I've been reading a lot are getting interviews. Any feedback will be helpful, thanks in advance

Droningek, if you can afford it fly to HK for the initial interview. This will get you an interview providing you have suitable experience. Have had a few friends do it and it makes their 2nd stage easier (a few less things to do during the day than I had)
