You list yourself as in Canada. Get a book called "From the ground up". It's what's used for training in Canada. It's like 30-60CAD. It'll be a good extension of the JKI if you think the JKI alone is insufficient. Dont get the workbook by accident though.
The questions on the site you linked seems more for the Stage2 interview for licenced pilots.

Chapfo. Thanks for your input man. Regarding the book too bad I alrdy moved back to HK. I've been googling and youtubing many of the concepts instead of reading it straight from the book.
Thank god I have Ur concurrence on those questions. They seemed quite out of the scope of 1a to be as well.
And you all mentioned 1b coming so quick after 1a (especially for the guys who are not living in HK. They give u a date alrdy ). There really isn't much time to prep for 1b. Does any of u know approx how long it takes them to inform the candidates who live in HK on 1b? Providing that u pass 1a of course

at that time, anybody has an idea of how long it takes to become a F/O if you join the TT program?

Hey guys,
I was wondering what are my chances to be considered as a cadet for Cathay Pacific despite lacking a HK Permanent ID card.
Before you all think me mad, let me explain!
I am on my final year of high school in Australia and will be 18 next year. I am currently attempting to acquire a Dependent Visa / Entry Permit for HK as my parents are both from Hong Kong. This will allow me to "work, study, establish or join in any business or to take up residence in the HKSAR." This was taken from the HK gov website.
Of course being raised in Australia had it's benefits as I am fluent with my English. As well as this, I am also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin as I have graduated from an extra-curricular Chinese School last year.
Furthermore, I also have 30 minutes of flight experience as I have taken a Trial introductory Flight (TiF)... although I am not sure how much this will help!
I have already sent an enquiry email to Cathay Pacific's recruitment address earlier today, but I was simply wondering if by any rare chance someone had already experienced this on this forum and is willing to give some advice.

Well.... If this doesn't work out, I can just live in Hong Kong for 7 years until I get a HK permanent ID card and apply then.
Not seeing how I can muster all that patience though!
Another way might be to enrol for the Aviation course at a certain university here in Australia. On their website they mention that they have a partnership with Cathay Pacific and that several top students may be provided a visa and sent off as a cadet.

Functional reach test
Hi guys,
It looks like the format of functional reach test has changed quite a lot since a few years back, from min of 160cm, to measure of leg length (>100cm), to min consideration of 157.5cm nowadays (<163cm subject to functional reach test).
Has anyone one been through this test recently? If so, may you share whether this is done by sitting in cockpit or leg and arm length measurement at medical check?

I also somewhat agree with you underpants that this may be complete bs - given how little students have ever made it through.
