haha thx, i was just worried about what has changed in the standard itself,
as there never seemed to be that many fails, and all the information on the
internet that i have been able to gather so far was based on the 'old' standard
where 90% people passed.
surely if we come to a conclusion what the new standards are and what MORE needs to be focused on, then future candidates can be more prepared....that was my hope ~

Howtosayit, I agree that the overall process is indeed easier recently, most probably to account for the higher demand for pilots.
Concerning the new compass test, Since its also used in oxford, I didn't consider it to be as much of an issue, and if candidates could practice and improve their reflexes, it should effectively translate to better grading results.
However, from my understanding, the most significant change is that they took out an english test(or made it easier) and a math test and I don't see how this could lead to almost a 50% increase in failrate for grading...
(unless the candidates couldn't understand the instructions, in which case we can assume the fail rate is due to a language barrier.)

The recent increase in failure rates for flight grading come from the AE candidates. Their flight grading is different to the ab-initio. As far as I know, the failure rate for ab-initio cadet has remained steady.
All the best

I did my initial Stage 1 interview on september the 26th 2012, I passed that interview, than I received an email from them they are postponing my application, and they´ve told me I could expect to be invited for the final assessments in Hong Kong around Octobre-December 2013. This is due the delivery of the A350. Anyone else who is in the same situation?

Physics for the Compass test
Hi,
I am having my initial A this coming July. Got a question for you all about the aptitude test. I know they expect us to know high school level physics but more specifically what are the topics they will focus on? I remember there was a wide range of physics topics back in high school and it has been four years and my uni degree is Economics...
Thanks!

Stage 1A
Congratulations Simona on your advancing to Stage 1B! Just a simple question if you could kindly shed some light on, from what I understand there'll be a Maths test as a component of the COMPASS test, are pencil and paper provided?
Have read through the posts in this thread, i know it's a computer-based test and calculators aren't allowed, but there's no mentioning of pencil and paper...a simple answer will be much appreciated. Thanks loads!

Common sense would dictate that pen/pencil and paper would be provided for a Maths test... much like how toilet paper is always provided in washrooms.. maybe except in China, Cuba, Thailand, Venezuela, India.. okay maybe you should call the good folks at flight recruitment and inquire about the pen/pencil and paper, while you're at it ask about their washrooms...
