It sounds like a fault, caused by a bad connection which was cured by re-racking...

Sorry for the thread creep, but if an Airbus ever does something that you weren't expecting, it is your situational awareness or your understanding of the systems that is the problem, not the Airbus....

Wait for the front mains to land.
NOW pull reverse.
Use elevator to make the nose gear landing...
