Umm, possibly, but there must be a better design!...

Umm, possibly, but there must be a better design! If not, why not use an appropriate 'feeler gauge' type tool to place between the inside of the shackle and the scissor linkage to tighten the nut...

Getting a bit more into the technical aspect of the shackle and bolt. I agree that, as stated early, It's very surprising that MB didn't design a bolt with a shoulder that the nut was tightened up...
