LH Cargo MD-11 went round off 23R this fine morning. Hardly newsworthy, I know, but anyone know the reason for this. (Might settle a bet)

I disagree. Saudi have got their "sums" wrong and will pull out again soon. Their slave trade from India, Pakistan and Egypt routes through gulf states or direct, not through Manchester.

Refused diversions

2 ILS runways, plenty of remote stands, competent ATC. And yet Manchester Airport proves itself inadequate yet again. Best revert to Ringway Airfield, the place is not up to an International label.

Hmmmm

probably just for the Hajjj season. Not much incentive for most folk to travel between Saudi Horrabia and Manchester when all's said and done.

Push-back and taxying are awful at MAN, esp for T1 and sometimes T2 pilots. The logjams are awful, and as for crossing 23R/05L, well no blinking good at all.

Not ATC's fault, they try their best....
