I don't know the cost of putting in a Main Deck Cargo Door today, but back in the late '90s the going rate for an A300 (same fulelage), was around $6 million so I would think around double that...

One taking off on 08 had it's wheels in the grass at the eastern end as it got airborne. I believe some lights were damaged.

I suppose the old 08 ILS is tired or unreliable. You don't really need both ends to be Cat III as there is usually little wind when it is foggy, except in the Channel Islands.

I think the max payload for an A340-600 in cargo config (no seats or galleys/toilets) is around 70tons, but I doubt it could do JFK with that load out of BOHs 2271 meters runway.
