So Airbus deliberately spent billions of dollars to produce an aircraft they knew would only sell a few but they planned on this ?

Kind of a ridiculous assertion, it has been a technical success...

Simply my favourite aircraft, never got to fly it as a Pilot but have been around the world on it in the back many times.

There's just nothing like it.
