I think they were on fire/smoking well before they were flat. I think the general concensus is that there was an antiskid failure which probably meant the brakes had locked up, or were locking up too...

I'm not aware of any aircraft having a tire temperature readout. Refer to the previous messages in this thread for brake temperature and tyre/tire pressure.
