Very simple really - go to your nearest GA airfield, find a hangar doing maintenance, and ask politely.

Not feasible during termtime, but the 10 week summer break at most UK universities lends itself to this sort of thing. Certainly I agree that a graduate engineer who is also a licenced engineer...
