I wasn't aware that most engines don't even provide EGT protection even if you don't firewall it.

EGT is not a failure condition (if the engine is still running) unless you let it go long enough....

Rain alone is not the problem as it gets centrifuged out the fan, The problem is the inertia of the hail...

Aircraft are design and certified not to crash, what happens if they do, is varriable as heck....
