Who knows?

Early rumours talked about a bounce. Later rumours talk about a ga at 30-40ft during flare. Neither may be true. It's a rumour network....

No t if you believe recent posts

Rumours suggest GA called during flare, at 30-40 feet. Too high to disable TOGA. But that is just one of many "inside stories" here. Another says they bounced. That might do it.

So which inside...

"WS proc was done"

Given that a GA was already initiated (let's assume TOGA thrust, flaps 20 and gear up), I wonder what they mean by the statement "windshear proc was done" after they noticed the WS event?

Doesn't really answer whether they were down and locked.

If the gear was down and locked, but they landed very hard, I wouldn't expect it to look like that. And clearly it didn't roll to a stop....

Errmmm...

I don't think anyone said they bounced 150 ft. If that source is valid, one has to assume the climbed there albeit briefly. Without bouncing.

The same source claims the wheels were down. That...

Who to believe?

Ironically, one (inside) post claims positive rate of climb (for a while) and wheels left down. The latter being a boon, apparently

This is one case where I think sitting and waiting for the...

Wow! So many rumours!

This thread is going all over the place. We have contradictory evidence from those supposedly in the know.

Wheels down, wheels up. Bounced or didnt bounce? How can we tell? (except perhaps by...

I think the implication is that it came down so hard that the gear collapsed. And that it took the shock, preventing less damage to the a/c itself.

What I am confused by is how a light 777 on full...

Or stalled in to the ground

Either way, the crux of this fortunate (barring the fire fighter who died, may he RIP) was the wheels up decision. Not good. Alas some poor sod pushed the lever...

Plus...

Plus the ground proximity warning if he tried to land with the wheels up.

To me it looks like bounced landing, GA full thrust (did they disengage AT?), and curiously, wheels up way too early. The...

Pilot error

Whatever way you look at this, pilot error has to be a factor. (And we all know pilots are human right?)

Maybe toga was pressed but was disabled. Maybe they held the thrust leavers against the...

GA commanded by tower

I can understand the FC calling GA after a bounce, just not the tower! (Previous posts said the tower called it).

I cannot understand why the FC would raise the wheels before the go around was...

It could be what happened. But I doubt it.....

Create their own oxygen????

Lithium ion batteries have their issues. But "creating their own oxygen" is only something God (and maybe plants) can do!

You might want to revisit some basic chemistry....

They do, however,...

Not sure I believe this happened...

Nothing wrong with your logic. But I think the probability that this happened is very low indeed. This is not a tiger moth landing....

But bouncing... Positive rate of climb... Engines not spooled...

Agree with every word!

Well said, sir. All points totally valid.

Pax are humans not just slf. If they are off, they want passport and money. And perhaps other stuff. A reality of life. Forget trying to control it, you...

UAE is fairly small as it happens. Take a look at many major airports around the world and you won't see much difference....

That is what I was thinking. WS escape does not call for wheels up!
