They used to pay for the medical upfront a couple of years ago when I did it. They even booked it for me. Now, I believe the applicant pays for it, then gets remunerated when they start work.

Hopefully that's not the case now. I certainly wasn't discouraged from applying by the present manager. It was him that made me aware of the jobs coming up.
