To clear this up once and for all I have directly asked Emirates what the situation is regarding the 3 months thing. The answer came back that you must start a course within 12 months of passing...

May or not be the case but a reliable source told me that 16 pilots were called this week for a start in Jan. Apparently they are going to rapidly ramp up FO's courses in the next few months.

Those numbers are approximately correct from what I gather. The pool is in the region of 150 FOs.
I know of at least one FO who received a start date for the 777, he was called this week.
